Your prescription label is packed with important information. The top usually lists the pharmacy name and phone — keep this handy. The patient name and Rx number uniquely identify your prescription; always quote the Rx number when calling in for a refill.
The drug name and strength appear next, followed by detailed directions (e.g. 'Take 1 tablet by mouth every 8 hours for pain'). The quantity dispensed and number of refills remaining tell you when to plan your next refill.
